Environmental Team

The Environment Team is responsible for collecting data related to the environment use, and condition in DeKalb county. The data included floodplain maps, energy usage, and other environmental factors. From this collection of data, the team also created recommendations to improve the sustainability and environmental condition in the county.

Brooke Bergstrom

3rd Year Civil Engineering Major
Sustainable Cities Minor

I am Brooke Bergstrom, a third year Civil Engineering major at Georgia Tech. My interest in sustainability has led me to pursue the Sustainable Cities minor. I plan to focus my career specifically on construction engineering and how the principles of sustainability can be incorporated within that field. Having a background in science and engineering has allowed me to contribute my problem solving skills and experience with scientific analysis to the Environmental Team for this project.

Juliette Goff

2nd Year Environmental Engineering Major
Sustainable Cities Minor

I’m a second year Environmental Engineering major also pursuing a Sustainable Cities minor. I am interested in incorporating sustainability into our city structure, design, and lifestyle that reaches every resident. Not from the South, this project has exposed me to various types of city structures and given me a wider view of enacting sustainability in urban environments. I contributed to researching the vulnerabilities of DeKalb county, specifically related to the environment, and made recommendations based on these vulnerabilities.This project has been an amazing experience, confirming my interests in sustainability and city planning.
