SocioEconomic Team

The socioeconomic team is responsible for gathering all information as it relates to socio-economic issues. Much of their research focuses on public capital and resources.

Hello, I am Fatima Jarquin, and I am a rising sophomore in the Architecture program here at Georgia Tech. Since I was first introduced to the term sustainability in architecture, I have become fascinated with the goal of introducing sustainable practices in my own personal life as well as in my career. I formed part of the socio-economic team in this project, and was tasked with analyzing the historical and current socio-economic challenges facing DeKalb County.
I am the second oldest of six siblings and we have two dogs, Zaki and Valentina. I also enjoy going to Piedmont Park for their picture-perfect views!

Kayley Beard

3rd Year Architecture Major
Sustainable Cities Minor

I am Kayley Beard, and I am a senior studying Architecture and completing a minor in Sustainable Cities. I am passionate about sustainability and how it is implemented in the built environment, businesses, and cities. As a member of the socio-economic team, I am looking further into social and economic factors including demographics, housing, food deserts, and businesses, and their correlation with environmental factors in the county. Through my time here at Georgia Tech, I have been a part of the Building for Equity and Sustainability VIP research team looking further into equity in rating systems. I have also been a part of the American Institute of Architecture Students (AIAS) and Suit Up Professional Preparation.
